1. I'm in a monogamous relationship with my husband.
2. We have been married 6 years and married nearly a year to the day after we first found out about each other. We married again a couple of years ago, at the Excalibur in Las Vegas. Just because we could and because we could dress up. I quite fancied an Elvis Presley wedding but it cost extra for the hula girls as compared to paying for dressing up. Dressing up won. I keep looking at wedding dresses and would like to get married again just because it was so much fun. My son was 5 for the first wedding and he loved the partying and encourages me to do it again! The kids were important at both weddings.
3. He had an ad on a dating website which I answered. His words were compelling which I couldn't resist replying to, even though his picture was not my usual cup of tea. It started off innocently. He was funny and interesting and even before we met I began to fall in love with him. When we finally met it was like a magnetism. I needed to keep brushing shoulders with him so it was a good job we were in London's busy Covent Garden and had a good excuse to keep pressing my body next to his. After seven years the magnetism is still there. He still holds my hand. Anywhere. Anytime. Because he wants to.

Ring-a-Ring of Roses
What better when your house has been polished, the work is on hold and our guests say they will be later than we expect, than to play on the blogs.

PostSecret PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail-in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard. This is a bizarre collection of odd-ball postcards that have been doctored. One has a cute little drawing of a naked woman sitting on a large armchair stretching her arms high up in the air in satisfied pleasure. The words say:
Sometimes I cancel all of my appointments in a day. Tell everyone I'm sick... and pleasure myself all day. I have so much fun - I'm exhausted - almost paralysed by pleasure. The next day... I go back to work.Weird :-)

Most of the blogs I regularly read are from the blogrolls of the folks on my blogroll. You know the person writing is intelligent and interesting and thus their blogroll most likely has some good stuff on it as well. Much better results than those clickthrough traffic exchanges, where most of the blogs were random exercises in making 30 seconds feel like an hour.

Yeah, where were the links back to your site? I checked most of them. Mind you, maybe I haven't really sussed out this blogroll thing yet. I've got it in on my site, like, but haven't a clue how it works. (Like a lot of things on my site!) It is very kind of you to review them and Kilroy's right, it does save a lot of time. But,,, nothing compares 2 u gran, so I think I'll just stay here a little while longer where I feel safe and sound.

5 Qs 4 Me!
Tim at Soup du Jour of the Day has served me up a helping of my own medicine.... and how yummy it is!
1. What is a typical day in the life of Doris like?
Very long but easy going. Being self-employed, on the whole I can choose to work when I want and am generally desk-based in our home office. In and out of the day I will do small chores; or be out and about helping someone who is needing a lot of support at the moment; maybe spend a little time with either of the kids - we are actually home-educating; and then I do some work! Day starts about 8.30am-ish and ends about midnight-ish. The world of blogging has dominated a bit over the last couple of months which has interfered a little with work.
2. What food or dish do you love, but never fix because no one else in your household will eat it?
Easy! Fresh vegetables in quantity. I would like to eat a lot more but it never seems the right time to cook them. The kids both turn their noses up to varying degrees and then the veggies just go off because they are not eaten soon enough. It is disheartening.
3. If you walk outside your front door and around the neighborhood, what sight, sounds, and smells do you experience?
The sight is of classic Victorian terraces. A certain amount of English elegance combined with the history. We have a park right behind and to the side of us so there are many trees. The sound depends on the time of day. For ten minutes every morning you hear the kids laughing and chatting as they run by us to school, then silence, and then the mums returning all a-chatting. Sundays you hear almost nothing but bird song in the morning. Later on in the day you hear the wonderful sounds of so many people playing in the park. It is a very well-used park and rather cosmopolitan. And then the smells! Living in a predominantly Asian area we have the wonderful but just gentle smell of curries in the morning when they are cooked, and then the smell of green trees and fresh cut grass from the park.
4. If you could spend a week in the U.S. where would you like to visit?
We spent three weeks in the US a couple of years ago and I'd do that all over again! But if it was just a week I'd do a boat trip along the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Last time we did a road trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon, up to Utah, and then visited Boston and New York. Do you have any idea how amazingly stunning your country is?
5. Do you have a character flaw that you would wish to fix?
A few actually. I procrastinate; I say "yes" too much; and I have low self-image. I'm working on them...

- Your neighbourhood sounds just like the area where I teach - on cold Thursday mornings (playground duty) in November/December the smell of daal and roti cooking always makes me snuggle into my duffle coat as my belly rumbles - delicious! iPod Nirvana
It has to be really special for me to make a post just about it! Andy from iPod Nirvana has asked to take part in 5 Qs 4 U and me doing my homework, I'm just listening to his inaugral Podcast.
He has the loveliest of smooth voices and so far the first four tracks are most pleasant! Just click on the link to his website/blog and then just click on the big box saying It's Podcast time. It should just start playing and lasts about 35 minutes. I'm able to listen as I carry on working - or rather - blogging at this mo!
If you have an iPod you can get it downloaded "automagically" but that is out my range of experience.
I really want to tell him not to ever post a picture of himself on his blog as the image I have of him from his purring voice could never match up to the real thing, or could it? But I'm not going to post such an un-cool message on his blog. Such a message from an apparent Gran on Bran could be the kiss of death!!!
If you visit and listen a bit, please drop him a message to wish him the best!

The voice is the result of 10 pots of coffee/day for the last 30 years, staying up until 3:00 am, and heavy digital effects.
My real voice actually sounds like Chip and/or Dale.

As for the pictures, I don't know if I'd disappoint or not. I guess it would just depend on what you had in your imagination compared to reality.
So... what every you *think* I look like... that's dead-on. :)

Needle in a haystack
If you had to go and look for a needle in a haystack, shifting through piles of hay to find the needle you'd probably give up. However, if you were told precisely where to look and went out and picked up that needle without much effort than there may well be a great sense of triumph. Out of all that hay you found the needle.
It was like that the other night. We simply plugged our co-ordinates into Heavens Above* and then it gave us a list of all the satellites that will appear near us over the next week and their level of brightness and where to look in the sky. If we had been in the right part of the world then we might have had the Space Shuttle to see, or the International Space Station.
We opted for an Iridium flare which is a great flash of light from one of the many Iridium satellites encircling the earth. With just a few minutes to spare at the allocated hour, we went outside and looked up into the night sky. An open expanse of sky with stars twinkling. At the allotted minute a bright light began to appear far in the sky, moving on its path, it became brighter and brighter, the intensity was breath taking until it was like a magnificent crescendo of light from far away. In a reverse process it began to fade, and like a shooting star, continued on its journey.
The whole thing lasted seconds, it was just a bright flash of light, but the fact we could easily go and find this needle in the haystack was amazing. It made me think of all the equipment and junk we have up in space, going round and round and we just don't realise. The magnificence of realising that some aspect of this stuff was visible to the naked eye is awe inspiring.
The flare happens as the sun (round the other side of the earth) reflects on the satellite's panels. That's all! It was an incredible experience and I look forward to seeing another.

For example, Gudmundrå, Sweden there is a rating of -8 -8 on 14 August at 23:55:52 hours looking West South West and an Alt. of 47º (The horizon is 0º and straight up is 90º so 47º is about midway up in the sky.) Just before midnight is at least a sociable hour, and of course it has to be a clear sky and it helps if you do not have too many city lights. So it is a bit hit and miss on the actual night.
It has just been announced that the landing of the Shuttle has been delayed for 24 hours due to slightly adverse weather.
